Today we celebrate 4 years of being an established NGO in Guatemala. 🇬🇹
Four years that, if I look at them simply as a date, might not seem like much. But when I look back at everything that brought us here, I know they represent so much more.
It took almost two years of trying, waiting, trying again, and learning not to give up when things didn’t go as expected. There were moments when it was hard to see the path clearly, but we kept moving forward.
And then came these four years: years of change, learning, challenges, new people, new paths, and countless experiences that have helped us grow.
Today, I’m at the forefront as Country Director — something I probably wouldn’t have imagined in quite the same way a few years ago: as a Guatemalan woman leading a team made up mostly of men. I don’t see that as a barrier, but simply as part of our story — and as a reminder that sometimes the paths we never expected to take can become the most meaningful ones.
These four years have taught me that building an organization is about much more than documents, projects, or goals. It’s about learning to work with people, to trust, to listen, to make mistakes, to correct course, and to keep moving forward.
Today, we don’t just celebrate getting this far. We celebrate everything we had to learn in order to get here. And above all, we celebrate the people who have been part of this journey.
Those who were there from the beginning.
Those who joined along the way.
Those who helped us when we were still finding our place.
And those who continue to believe in what we do.
Four years later, we’re still here. With more experience, more questions, more dreams, and above all, so much desire to keep building.
May these four years be not only a celebration of what we’ve achieved, but also a reminder of everything we can still do.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our story. To these first four years — and to everything that’s yet to come! 🥂
