Director of the Wired Humanities Projects (WHP)




Stephanie Wood directs a research unit at the University of Oregon, the Wired Humanities Projects (WHP). WHP has a focus on the histories and cultures of Mesoamerica.  Stephanie holds a doctorate in Latin American history from UCLA (1984). She taught in this field for several years at the University of Maine and for about a decade at the University of Oregon, prior to joining WHP. She has published one monograph and four co-edited volumes, scores of articles, and numerous web-based publications relating to colonial Mexican history. She also directs summer institutes in Oaxaca, Mexico, for K-12 teachers from around the U.S. interested in increasing Mesoamerican content in their curricula (such as, social studies, languages, and art), with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
