While working in Nicaragua as volunteers for Potters for Peace, Frederick Hamann and Beatriz Fiallos learned about the rocket elbow cooking stoves and Stove Team International, in Eugene, Oregon. Fred and Beatriz immediately took interest in helping bring the Ecocina to Nicaragua, and met with the board of directors and rest of the Stove Team in the summer of 2008, during a trip to Oregon, their home state. They developed a friendship and committed to working on the project. These days, they are putting their grain of sand to assist in the opening of a second Ecocina factory in northern Nicaragua in 2012, and enjoy learning everything about the Ecocina and efficient cooking stoves and ovens. |
