Juan Gutierrez was born in the historic colonial city of Leon, Nicaragua, where he currently lives and works. He is married and has three children. Juan's first ecological project was ten years ago when he received a training to build a cooking stove that consumed less firewood. Juan started producing this model and designing other wood stoves that he now builds. A year and a half ago Juan started his factory and now produces twenty four different models of cooking wood stoves including the Ecocina. Juan has four employees at the factory, and has earned six awards and twenty eight recognitions from environmental agencies for his efforts to protect the forest and the environment. Juan Gutiérrez nació en la histórica ciudad colonial de León, Nicaragua, donde actualmente vive y trabaja. Él es casado y tiene tres hijos. El primer proyecto ecológico de Juan empezó hace diez años cuando recibió una capacitación para construir una estufa para cocinar que consumía menos leña. Juan comenzó a producir este modelo y a diseñar otras cocinas de leña que ahora él construye. Hace un año y medio Juan comenzó su fábrica y ahora produce veinticuatro diversos modelos de estufas de leña incluyendo la Ecocina. Él tiene cuatro empleados en la fábrica y ha ganado seis premios y veintiocho reconocimientos de agencias ambientales por sus esfuerzos para proteger el bosque y el medio ambiente. |
